A colorful blend of America's favorite old-fashioned flowering annuals. Some bloom early, some late. There are tall "spike" flowers, others with round blossoms, and airy sprays of "filler" flowers. Packet illustration is a guide only to the contents.
Five to 25 days for germination. 25 - 50 days to bloom. Broadcast seeds over beds which have been raked to roughen. Cover lightly with sand or crumbly soil. Firm by light tamping. Keep beds moist for a week or so to sprout seeds.
Scatter seed in a sunny corner and enjoy an array of lovely blossoms to cut all summer. The more you cut, the more you will have. It is helpful to mix clean, dry sand with the seed. We recommend one to two parts sand to one part seed.

Hardy Annual. Silky, golden-orange flowers bloom early on erect, slender stems above lacy blue-gray foliage. Compact plants are drought tolerant and sturdy despite their delicate appearance. California state flower. Packet will plant approximately 160 square feet.
Fourteen to 21 days for germination. 70 - 90 days to bloom. Grows best in full sun to a height of 12 - 18 inches. In early spring, sow in open ground well exposed. Cover with 1/4 inch of soil. In mild climates, plant in fall or winter. When plants are 2 inches tall, thin. Does not transplant easily.
Excellent for sunny banks, terraces, rock gardens, borders and containers. In dry areas, for easy maintenance, plant with African Daisies, Salvia or Cockscomb.

Annual. A selection of large and small fruited annual gourd varieties which are decorative and useful. Colorful small fruited types make ideal table decorations. If properly dried, will last indefinitely. Large fruited varieties included. Names are descriptive of their shapes and uses. This packet will plant approximately 20 hills. Ten to 20 days for germination. 90 - 130 days to bloom. Sow 5 seeds evenly spaced in hills 3 inches high and 12 inches across. Young vines should have a fence, trellis or heavy cord on which to climb. When young vines are about 8 inches long, thin to 3 plants per hill. Does not transplant well.
Will do best in light and sandy soil. Usually takes full time until frost for large gourds to mature.
To dry gourds, wait until fruit is fully developed and hard enough to pick from the vines. Pick before frost. To preserve, avoid bruising and wash thoroughly. Store in a dry, well ventilated place until thoroughly dried out and hard. Can then be waxed or painted.
